HHS GYM DEDICATION

December 2007 - On December 14, 2007, between the girls and boys basketball game with Mountain Heritage, a ceremony will be held to officially rename the HHS gym the "Jim Pardue Gynasium".   Coach Pardue lost his bout with cancer in July of this year, but his spirit will live on in the place where his legend was made.

"He told me several times that naming the gym after him was something he wanted more than anything in the world," said his wife Rosalind.  "This is his dream come true, and it's all because of everyone working together. Words can't express how much this means to me and Jim.  This will be very special, very special."

As a tribute to Coach Pardue and his family, the school is asking all alumni and supporters to plan to attend the December 14 game.  As Mrs. Pardue said, "It's such a beautiful place, and the crowds are always great.  That's what we are hoping for on this special night."

After his death, a scholarship was set up in Coach Pardue's name through the Community Foundation of Henderson County to help a senior HHS athelete further his education.  If you would like to help, please contact the Community Foundation at (828)697-6224 or visit
