HHS BAND BRINGS HOME THE GOLD

MAY 2008 - The HHS band completed the concert triple crown - first New York, then Boston and now Washington's Kennedy Center.  Their award of the gold at the World Projects event in DC on May 5th continued to cement the HHS band as one of the top bands and band programs in country!  Competing against bands from California and Virginia, the 99 member HHS band took home the top prize in this prestigious and select competition.  Led by well known HHS alumnus Fran Shelton, the band wowed the audience (which included over 100 HHS band family members and supporters) with their performance, leading to a long standing ovation.  While in DC, the band also enjoyed many side trips, including a visit to Arlington cemetary, where a wreath was placed by students at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
